Panadol Plant/Boldo (Plectranthus sp.)

from $8.00
sold out

Panadol plant (commonly known as Boldo in Brazil) is a sprawling ground cover that plays an essential role in our food forest systems. Like most plants that we work with, Panadol has a myriad of beneficial aspects:

  • Very easy to propagate and readily takes from cuttings.

  • Extremely drought tolerant, retains moisture in it’s succulent-like leaves for many weeks. Can be chopped and dropped to provide moisture to less resilient plants.

  • A highly aromatic plant, it helps deter rodents and other pests from the garden.

  • It’s sprawling growth habit helps suppress undesirable weeds.

  • Known for it’s medicinal properties, it can be made into a bitter tea to help treat headaches/inflammation.

Panadol plant prefers full sun but can tolerate some shade. We mainly use this plant at the very beginning of food forest installations when there isn’t much fertility or shade. It does a fantastic job of covering the soil around baby fruit trees, protecting them from harsh sun and aggressive weeds. One of our favorite ground covers!

All cuttings are 6-9 inches in length.
